Albion Lighthouse

It's standing there, so majestic!
Overlooking the ship traffic to/from Port Louis. It has been doing so, since 1910 - and it is still operating.

We came here at around 9 o'clock in the morning. It was calm, almost no wind at all, the only sounds we heard were the sea hitting the rocks and some goats.
A pristine morning to take in the silence of Mauritius.

The shrine at the foot of the lighthouse

You may know my soft spot for old houses. I guess this house was built almost at the same time as the lighthouse? (if anyone knows, please let me know). What is its history? Who lived here? How was it to live here? What are their stories etc.

I've been into restoring an old wooden house that is now more than 100 years old.
It pains me to see this house falling into pieces and no one bothers to to anything? This is part of the history of the island! Who cares?!

We were there too. When we were there, there was a grand mansion being built just 100m up the road from the light house while this house is falling apart...

I'm the same way when I see old, abandoned houses! I wonder about their history and cannot understand why someone would just let them go. It seems so sad to think that at one time it may have been a noisy, happy house full of children and now stands alone and fling apart. The lighthouse pictures were nice--we have a beautiful one near our home that I like to visit. Something very comforting about them.
